The Invisalign® orthodontic system is an effective alternative to traditional braces. This system of clear aligners straightens your smile and is popular with adults who don’t want a mouth full of metal. Invisalign is an innovative orthodontic treatment that straightens your teeth with a series of clear, BPA-free plastic aligners instead of metal brackets and wires. Your custom aligners move your teeth through a sequence of gentle adjustments, carefully planned by Dr. Kabiri, correcting alignment and positioning.
Invisalign resolves a variety of alignment issues including:
When you opt for Invisalign treatment to straighten your teeth, Dr. Kabiri takes molds and pictures of your teeth. She uses this information to plan the movement of your teeth and to have your aligners custom-made to guide your teeth into their new, correct positions.
You wear each set of aligners for two weeks. Initially, you see Dr. Kabiri every two weeks so she can check the progress of your treatment and exchange your aligners for the next in the series. Once you’re settled into treatment, Dr. Kabiri gives you two or three sets of aligners at a time, and you schedule appointments every four to six weeks.
Invisalign offers a variety of benefits. For example, many patients choose Invisalign because the aligners are nearly invisible, so no one can tell you’re having orthodontic treatment.
Another benefit is that the aligners are removable, so you can take them out to eat and clean your teeth. This means you can eat whatever you like and can brush and floss as normal, without having to work around the metal brackets and wires needed with traditional braces. You wear your aligners for 22-23 hours each day.
Each patient has different needs, so Dr. Kabiri provides individual Invisalign treatment plans. On average, patients wear aligners for approximately a year. Wearing the aligners as directed helps the effectiveness of the treatment.
Once your teeth have moved to the correct positions, you wear a set of aligners as a retainer for 22-23 hours a day. Afterward, you just wear the retainers at night when you sleep.
